The Ghost of Annamite
The Ghost of Annamite is a work created to tell the story of a rarely seen, critically endangered species of antelope called the saola - often referred to as the Asian unicorn because of the scarcity of it's kind. According to WWF and Saola Working Group, the saola can be found within the Annamite Mountains of Vietnam and Laos and the main threat to their species is poaching. In this piece I use a White Dragontail ( Lamproptera curius), a South Asia native species of Swallowtail, as the story teller for the viewer. A beautiful image at first sight but much more to the story lies within.
